My office has a "Secret Santa" at Christmas with the gift being valued at about twenty dollars.This year I drew the name of one of my favorite coworkers and gave him a generous gift wrapped to impress. As I arrived to the office party, my SS passed me in the lot and excitedly said she hoped I loved her gift. Well, when I opened the little package which looked like it was wrapped by a small child, I found a little light-up Grinch ornament. I shook the bag thinking there must be something else, and other coworkers looked at my gift in disbelief.
I thought about complaining to her, but I remembered another friend who is obsessed with the Grinch, so I rewrapped him up it style,regifted, and told her so.
She hung him around her neck and told me it was the best gift she'd ever gotten and nearly cried.
The Grinch is a symbol of redemption, and so when I saw my SS, I told her what a great gift he was, which was true!!
